He would run the business with his son John, until his retirement in 1996. He had a lifelong passion for boats, especially wooden boats. He owned many beautiful vessels and spent much of his free time restoring and operating them off of the Jersey Coast. He loved taking family and friends fishing and there were many fun adventures to talk about over the years. His family, friends and neighbors knew him as a man who could build or fix anything, an ability he was very generous with throughout his life. He loved family gatherings, listening to music and cooking. He especially loved telling stories about the Navy, interesting people he knew and of course, his boats.
