Manuel Decena Alberto, 69, of Toms River, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Atimonan, Quezon, Phillipines. He came to the U.S. in 1992 and settled in Toms River. He formerly worked as a merchant seaman for 12 years, retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pita Mapaye Alberto; two sons, Erle Alberto and his wife Nida, and Edward Alberto and his wife Janette; two daughters, Missy Alberto-Suliguin and her husband Ben, and Sheila Alberto-Soares and her husband Andrew. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Noel John and Erle Edgar Jr., Alberto, Danielle and Ysabella Alberto, and Bethany and Brianna Suliguin. He was predeceased by his sister, Encarnacion Valenzario. He is survived by a sister, Adelaida Vargas; three brothers, Roland, Renato and Efren Alberto.

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 8 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Funenal Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday April 9 at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Toms River. Committal will be private at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
