Margaret C. Convery

Margaret C Convery

AGE: 69 • Middletown

After a long battle with ALS, Margaret C. Convery, 69, of Red Bank, died April 21, 2013. Born at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, she grew up in Keansburg and attended Red Bank Catholic High School. She lived in Middletown with her husband, George, for 39 years, worked in the telecommunications industry for 42 years, and was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary's, New Monmouth.

Margaret was a member of the Pioneer Club and the Adoration Chapel at St. Mary's. Always active, Margaret enjoyed jazzercise, swimming at the pool with her lady friends, and over the years covered thousands of miles briskly walking along the streets of her New Monmouth neighborhood. But what she most enjoyed about her activities was the people she met along the way. Forever concerned with the well-being of everyone from neighbor to ne'er-do-well, Margaret was always the first person to help with a cause and donated to numerous charities. She also loved her collections of Hummels, angels, pigs, and of course, her family and many friends.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, George; daughter and son-in-law Heather Ann and Michael MacDonald; son George Convery; grandchildren Maggie and Magnus MacDonald; four sisters, Dorothea Ruane, Catherine Pasquinelli, Theresa Kinlin and Lorraine Novembre; great aunt May Callahan; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by parents, George and Dorothea Callahan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 24, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at 9:15 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 am at Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
