Mark Anthony Velazquesz

Mark Anthony Velazquesz, age 47, of Kellar, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Born on September 2, 1965 in Jersey City, N.J. son of Edgardo and Miriam Velazquez. He graduated from Lakewood High School, N.J. in 1983. Mark proudly served in the U.S. Army from November 1987 to November 1997, deploying to Operation Continue Hope, Somalia and Operation Restore/Uphold Democracy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He also served as Drill Sergeant stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Before being honorably discharged. After leaving the military he was a boot camp instructor for Challenge Youth Program at Fort Dix, N.J. Until his passing, he was employed with First American Field Services until it's acquisition to Corelogic in 2010 for a total of 17 years. He was Vice President of Field Services. He enjoyed all things sports, music, fishing, cooking and working in his yard.
He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Marie; loving wife, Karen and their three children: son, Joseph of Richmond, VA; daughters, Kelli & Krista, both of Keller; sister, Diane Junger and her husband Alex of Waretown, N.J.; brother, Brian and his partner Maria Ramos of San Diego, California; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, three God children, in-laws and many close, devoted friends. He also loved his three dogs, Jake, Marley & Duncan, tolerated his cat, Sadie.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watertown. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Donations may be made in his name to American Homeless Vets or Best Friend Animal Sanctuary.
