Matthew James Daley III, of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away on December 27, 2012, at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 81 years old. Born and raised in New Brunswick, he was a resident of North Brunswick since 1993. Matt retired from the Middlesex County Sheriffs Department after 30 years, at which time he was sergeant in charge of the K-9 unit and bomb unit. He was a life member of the PBA 165 and member of the NJ Police Honor Legion, where he was a trustee for 7 years. Matt was a Korean War Veteran serving with the 1st Marine Division. He was a life member of both the National and New Jersey Chapters of the 1st Marine Division. He was Flag Chairmen for the 1st Marine Division NJ Chapter and for many years, ran the NJ Chapter's Gifts for Children and Veterans program. Matt was a life member of the Marine Corp. League, John Basilone Det., a member of the American Legion Joyce Kilmer Post #25 and a 37 year member of the New Brunswick Elks BPOE #324.

Predeceased by his parents Matthew J., Jr. and Caroline A. Daley, a sister, Dolores Daley and brothers, William Daley Sr., Kevin B. Daley & Richard Daley, he is survived by a sister Julia Spezio of Highland Park, brother Michael Daley of New Brunswick, brother Patrick Daley of North Brunswick, brother James Daley of Florida and sister in law, Eleanor Daley of North Brunswick. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends, Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday 10am at St Peter RC Church of New Brunswick.
