Nestor S. Lane Jr., 82, of Tinton Falls, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. He had battled Parkinson's Disease with dignity, aided by the loving care of his devoted wife and family. Mr. Lane was born and raised in Point Pleasant Beach, and also lived in Spring Lake for many years, as well as Brielle, before moving to Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls two years ago. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Mr. Lane worked for Western Electric for several years. He then embarked on a successful career in the restaurant industry. For 20 years, he was the General Manager of Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty, before opening his own restaurant, Net Lanes Fisherman, in Asbury Park. During the next 22 years, he would also operate Net Lanes Steak and Lobster House in Howell, and Net Lanes Prime in Long Branch, before retiring in 2001. He served as president of the Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the N.J. Restaurant Association. He received the Carousel Award, as Business Owner of the Year, in Asbury Park. Mr. Lane was an avid surf-fisherman, and enjoyed trips to Nantucket, Cape Cod, and Prince Edward Island, where he caught an 898-lb. tuna.

Mr. Lane was predeceased by his parents, Nestor S. and Teresa (Stewart) Lane Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen (nee Carroll), as well as by his children and their spouses, Kathleen and John Sickles of Wall, James and Diane Lane of Wall, Susan and Howard Scribner of Spring Lake, and Nancy and Michael Vuksanic of Wall. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean and Alex Riordan, John Sickles Jr., James Arthur Lane, Kristen Ribaudo, Chris Mullan, Kelsey, Abigail, Catherine, and Brian Scribner, and Gregory and Rachel Vuksanic, as well as 1 great-grandchild, Akiana. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Dolly Lane, and his sister, Jean Den Bleyker, all of Manchester, as well as other relatives and friends. Mr. Lane's family is also very grateful for the assistance provided by his caregivers, Lashon Gordon, Karlia Wilson, Rosemarie and Joyce.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Cremation will take place privately.
