Regina E. Gallagher, 63, of Middletown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Regina was born in Long Island City, Queens, NY to Joseph and Irene (McCarthy) McAndrews. She earned her bachelor's degree from Kean College in Union, NJ. She began her career as a secretary at the FBI office in NYC. Then Regina was employed as a secretary at ATT Bell Labs in Holmdel for 26 years prior to retirement. Regina fought strong during a long, 15-year bout with breast cancer
. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, aunt and grandmother to her family. Regina's love, faith and strength touched many friends far and wide. Her indomitable spirit, smile, and sense of humor brightened every room she ever entered.
Regina was predeceased, in 1989 by her husband, John J. Gallagher and in 2001 by her son, Daniel J. Gallagher; by her sisters, Irene Kearney and Rosemarie McAndrews; brother, Joseph McAndrews. She is survived by her son, Major Sean J. Gallagher of Severn, MD; her daughter, Erin E. Gallagher of Brooklyn, NY; her daughter-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth; grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth and James Daniel; brothers, Thomas of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Kevin of Hawaii and Eugene of Washington, NJ; sisters, Bunny McDonnell of Middletown, Marilyn McAndrews of Queens, NY, Kathleen Tempesta of Spotsylvania, PA and Gerri Buscemi of Holmdel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 7-9pm and Friday, October 4th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5th, 10am at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank, NJ. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.
