Richard Edward Donley, 74, of Brick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Richard was born on April 16, 1940 in Elizabeth.

RED spent his entire career serving our country and his community's citizens. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Shortly after the war, he became a Police Officer for the town of Milburn, NJ. In 1967, he moved his family to Wall and worked for Wall Township as the 32nd police officer. Richard was a graduate of the NJ State Police Academy in 1967 and later continued his education in Law Enforcement. He also was involved with the riots of 1967 at the Jersey Shore. Rich loved the Mets, Giants, Fast Cars, Motorcycles and Music from the 60's.

He is survived by his son, Richard N. Donley and his wife Sharon; two grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole, all of Brick. R.E.D. is also survived by his brother, William and sister-in-law Thelma Donley, living in Fla. Rich was also very close to a great friend, Alberta Romo of Toms River, and two lifelong buddies, Bobby Allen and Speedy Gonzales and their wives living in Florida.

Visiting will be Monday 11 AM-2 PM and 4-8 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd, Brick. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home followed by burial with Military Honors at the Brig. Gen Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
