Richard M. Kight, 83, resident of Marco Island, Florida and Allentown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Dick was born on July 25, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Miles B. Kight and Ruth (Smith) Kight. He is predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Jean (Kight) Suessman.
Dick is survived by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Eugenie "Jean" Kight; son, Richard Kight and his wife, Deborah of Columbus, Oh.; daughter, Patricia (Kight) deVesty and her husband Neil of Bay Head, N.J.; daughter, Nancy (Kight) Power and her husband Chris of Plano, Tx; grandsons, Richard Kight III, Daniel Kight and his wife, Julie Stewart Kight, Jordan deVesty and Brett deVesty.
Dick was a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University. He spent most of his professional life in real estate and insurance. Beginning with Justin Realty in Rutherford, N.J., Dick proudly established his own business, Kight Realty and Insurance in Rutherford, before ultimately retiring from Allstate Insurance. Dick was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, grandfather, uncle and a good friend. He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his many friends, spending holidays and vacations with family, as well as traveling and just spending each day with Jean. He possessed a sharp mind and a razor sharp wit. Dick loved a good joke and would usually be ready with a few of his own. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service is being planned for a future date to be held in Bay Head, N.J.
