Robert M. Bonomo, age 69, of Toms River, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at home. Born in Jersey City in a snow storm, Mr. Bonomo moved to New Brunswick where he attended Rutgers Prep School for which he attended a 51 year reunion last July. He went on to Rutgers University graduating in 1965, then on to Rutgers Law School. After entering private practice in 1969 in Newark, he moved to the Essex County Public Defenders office which he later said were the best days of his practicing law. Mr. Bonomo left the public defenders office to come to Toms River and entered private practice again. He was a member of the firm of Bonomo, Ravitz & Walsh for many years until his retirement in 2010. For several years Bob also sponsored Hamlet Hovsapian, an Armenian boy through World Vision, one of his many charities. He was a G-gauge model train enthusiast and loved garden railroading. He loved his trips to Italy, England and Scotland and looked forward to a relaxing retirement reading, smoking ribs and grilling steaks on the deck for family and friends and spending time with his beloved granddaughters.

Bob will be remembered most for his unfailing devotion, loyalty, and generosity to all who knew him. His values, calm spirit and sense of fairness always led him to the right thing and instill a sense of fairness and balance in others. He was a wonderful man who very quietly taught us how to live and was taken from us too soon.

Robert was predeceased by his parents Dr. Anthony Bonomo, and Elizabeth Sangi Bonomo. Surviving is his beloved wife Elizabeth Bonomo. His daughter Karen Flynn, son in law Michael Flynn, and granddaughters Sarah Marie Flynn, and Samantha Chase Flynn all of Toms River.
