Salvatore "Sam" Cassone

Salvatore (Sam) Anthony Cassone, 89 of Locust, NJ, died Monday April 8, 2013, in Riverview Medical, Red Bank, NJ. He was born in Atlantic Highlands, October 2, 1923 to Eugenio and Maria Cassone. He lived in Locust, with his family, from 1955 to present. Sam was a mason contractor in Monmouth County his entire life. He served in the US Army during WWII from 19431945. His tour of duty, as a medic, took him to France, England and Germany. He was in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge and the freeing of prisoners when the war was declared over. He was a 60+ year member, and past Commander, of the American Legion, C.E. Allen post No. 141. He was instrumental in attaining the memorial statues for our Veterans in Rumson and Atlantic Highlands.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Agnes (Kraus) Cassone, Nov. 1, 2004. Also, by his parents Eugenio and Maria Cassone, his brothers Michael and Frank Cassone, sisters Gene Poyner and Frances Roma. He leaves his four, loving children to mourn for him. Patricia DeBow, Locust, David and Nancy Cassone of Farmingdale, Diane Dunham of Navesink, Carolyn and Joe Keegan, Port Charlotte, FL. He also leaves his six wonderful grandchildren Noel and Matthew DeBow, Jonathan and Christopher Keegan, Lauren Dunham and Sydney Elana Cassone.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Condon Funeral Home, leonardo, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at St. Agnes Church, 103 Center Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery, Leonardo, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, NJ.
