Steven Alan Roche, 57, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Tinton Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. He was 57. Steve was born in Quantas Point, RI, and lived in Point Pleasant Beach before moving with his family to Colts Neck. He attended Colts Neck schools and graduated from Marlboro HS in 1973. Steve earned a BS in Computer Science from Kean College and was employed with L-3 Communications in Aberdeen, MD.

Steve was a Type 1 Diabetic who conscientiously supported the work of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. In 1967, Steve attended Camp Joslin in Charlton, MA, a program devoted to children with diabetes, and was a proud recipient of the Joslin 25-year Certificate of Achievement in 2003. Steve will forever be optimistic that a cure will be found for diabetes.

Music was an important part of Steve's life. He was a guitarist and a keyboard player and a huge Beatles' fan. Steve's vast knowledge of musical history from the 60's & 70's was unsurpassed. In support of the NJ Friends of Clearwater, Steve attended many Clearwater Festivals. In fact, wherever there was good music, Steve could often be found. He also frequented New York City, especially enjoying the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Steve was predeceased by his father, J. Donald Roche, who died in 1993. He leaves behind his loving mother, Alice Jean Roche, Brielle; his siblings, David Roche, Freehold, Cindy Pope, Upper Freehold, Susan Roche, Point Pleasant, Bill Roche, Manalapan, Alice Lyons, Brielle, Bob Roche, Australia, Cary Roche-Morgan, West Long Branch; and the many friends and colleagues who came to know him over the years. Steve was an interested uncle to his nieces and nephews and shared with them his love of museums, music, and animals. He will be missed most especially by his cats, Scratch and Spark.
