William J. "Bill" O'Neill

William J. "Bill" O'Neill, 80, passed away August 21, 2013. Bill was born and raised in Somerville and spent time in the US Army as captain during peacetime. He later graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Bill was the Township Administrator in Bridgewater Township for 20 years, retiring in 2003. Prior to working in Bridgewater, Bill was employed at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as director of business services at the Newark, Piscataway, and Camden campuses. He was a communicant of Mary Mother of God RC Church. Bill was a member of the Somerville Elks, Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He coached Bridgewater's Pop Warner Midget Football for 14 years as well as baseball and travel soccer teams. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Helen O'Neill; his sons, William Sean and his wife Ann, Keith and his wife Cathy; a daughter, Bonnie Siegel and her husband David, and eight grandchildren, Katherine, Courtney, Lindsay, Molly, Kelsey, Sydney, Garrett and Sara.

Prayers will be said 9am Monday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville, followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Mary Mother of God RC Church in Hillsborough. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Sunday at the funeral home.
