FALLON, O.P.
AGE: 79 SPRING LAKE
Sr. Mary Rose Fallon, O.P., of Spring Lake, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sat., 12/25/10 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J. She was 79. Sr. Mary Rose was born in Jersey City, entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell on Sept. 8, 1949 and professed her vows on April 14, 1951. She graduated from St. Dominic Academy in 1949 and earned her B.A. from Caldwell College. Her mission began at St. John the Apostle School in Clark, NJ from 1951-63 as an elementary grade teacher; St. Agnes School in Clark, NJ as principal from 1963-67 and returning from 1976-79; St. Virgil's School in Morris Plains, NJ as principal and superior from 1967-72; St. Catherine's Convent in Caldwell, NJ, as superior from 1972-76; St. Aedan's School in Jersey City, NJ, as teacher and assistant principal from 1979-87; St. Catharine's School in Spring Lake, NJ, as principal of primary grades from 1987-1996; St. Catharine Parish in Spring Lake, NJ, from 1996 to present working in their Pastoral Care Ministry. In 2003 Sr. Mary Rose was honored with the Champion for Life Award by the Right to Life Committee.
Sister was predeceased by her father Lawrence G., her mother Rose M. (nee Houghton) and her brother, Larry. She is survived by three brothers, William J., Joseph W. and his wife, Sheila, Thomas A. and his wife, Linda, one sister, Elizabeth Ann Quish, and her husband, Robert as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Sister will lie in repose at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake, NJ, on Tues., 12/28/10 from 4:00-8:00 PM; Wake service at 7:30 PM. She will then be transferred to St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel, 7 Ryerson Ave. (Mt. St. Dominic), Caldwell, on Wed., 12/29/10. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel, on Thurs., 12/30/10 at 10:00 AM. Visiting at St. Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell is on Wed., 12/29/10 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sisters of St. Dominic, Caldwell, NJ 07006 would be appreciated.

Sister Mary Rose will always be in my heart and mind I loved to hear her voice on the phone/message knowing she needed help if possible. She was very kind to my whole family and working with her was a distinct pleasure .God Bless to Mary Rose and Family.

Sister Mary Rose was a wonderful person with a wonderful heart. She is loved by my Mom, Anna Vitale, and myself. Since Mom's stroke, Sister Mary Rose had been a guardian angel and we looked forward to her visits. We know she is blessed by God.

I have treasured memories of Mary Rose from my childhood, especially when we all attended the Annual Disney Concerts at Caldwell College. Mary Rose was family...she will forever have a special place in my heart...

Dear Sister Mary Rose departed her earthly life on Christmas Day...how fitting! She was a joy to work with. I shall miss her immensely...always dedicated, always running around...always doing for others...I will miss her laugh and her wonderful sense of humor...God Bless you and your family...she loved you all so much.

Dear Bill,
I would like to extend to you and your family my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your sister. Sr. Mary Rose & I spent a week on a Parable Retreat in 1998 and shared a few dances at many Dominican functions I had attended. She was a woman dedicated to her ministry and certainly touched many lives in a positive way.

My fondest memories will be of Sr.Mary Rose"s love for her Dominican Community and family.
She touched the lives of countless numbers of children as well as the elderly. Her simple gentleness brought so much joy to others.
