Catherine Jenkinson Obituary

Catherine Doris Jenkinson

Forked River

Catherine Doris Jenkinson (March 24, 1930-Feb. 4, 2015). Catherine "Muzz" Jenkinson of Forked River, has passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Catherine was born on March 24, 1930, to Robert and Catherine Henry of East Hanover. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and John.

After living in East Hanover, Catherine started a life and family with Douglas Jenkinson in Marlboro. Catherine would become a mother of two, a school bus driver, lifeguard and swim instructor at the Freehold YMCA. Her husband's job would take them to Forked River, where they lived for over 45 years. In Lacey, Catherine was a member of the Women's Club of Lacey and the Garden Club. She was a member of the Forked River United Methodist Church, where she taught crafts for many years during the summer at Vacation Bible School. She extended her talents to her granddaughters' elementary school classrooms where she would teach many craft projects to the class. After raising caterpillars into butterflies at home, she often times would bring the butterflies to the children's classroom where they would watch them being released.

Catherine and Douglas traveled often both domestically and abroad. Throughout retirement, they enjoyed warm and sunny winters in Florida. Initially traveling throughout Florida in their motor home, they would eventually become homeowners in Hobe Sound. They were active in their community and Methodist Church and made many cherished friendships.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Douglas; her son, George and his wife Linda, and their family, Christina, Ashleigh, Max, and Nathan. She is also survived by her daughter, Catherine; granddaughter, Kara and her husband Joel; great-grandson, Brandon, and great-granddaughter, Kelsey; granddaughter, Amanda and her husband Charlie, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth and great-grandson, Charlie.

Visiting will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Cremation will be private.

I had the honor to know Muzz for several years when my son, Joel, was welcomed into the family when he and Kara were married 10 years ago. At the end of each of our phone calls I would tell Muzz that I loved her and she would always say, "love you more."
