Barbara Doyle Obituary

Barbara Ellen Doyle

AGE: 54 • Hillsborough

Barbara Ellen Doyle, 54, of Hillsborough, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, May 2, 2013, in her home in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Barbara was born April 3, 1959, the daughter of Jack Gerson and Judy Sedivec. She graduated from Temple University in 1985 and after working for many years as a paralegal, began her 10-year career as a beloved teacher in the Hillsborough School District.

Barbara was incredibly generous with her time, serving as the director of the middle school theatre productions and as a mentor to numerous students throughout the duration of her teaching career. She was charismatic and loving, and her passion for life was infectious.

She leaves her fond memories to be cherished by her; children, Rebecca L. Doyle of Somerset, NJ, Edward J. Doyle of Provo, UT, and Catherine M. Doyle of Royersford, PA; sisters, Carol Lentz of Dover, NJ and Michelle Sokolski of Walnut Creek, CA; mother and stepfather, Judy and Ray Sedivec of Rockaway, NJ; Edward Gunia of Union, NJ, and Janice Chappelear of Houston, TX, and her innumerable close friends and adoring students.

A memorial celebration will be held the morning of Saturday, May 11th, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Somerset Valley Player's Theater; family, friends, students and members of the community are all welcome to join in celebrating the life of Barbara Doyle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 723123-1718 or the Embrace Kids Foundation, 121 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hillsborough Funeral Home.

I was a year behind Bobbie in HS, but I got to know her during "Fiddler on the Roof". I still remember her performance, but even more, I recall what a warm, friendly person she was, in addition to her talent. Rest in Peace!

My condolences to Bobie's girls and family. We were friends growing up and as many of us we lost touch in adulthood. My memories of Bobie are many, WML was our stomping ground, we all grew up there. It is so sad that she has left us so young. May you find comfort knowing that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Bobie.

Barbara "Bobie" Gerson was one of my closest friends in 8th grade. She was a delightful person who had a magical way of making everyone feel special. Even my grandmother fell in love with Bobie the moment she me her!

We lost touch after our teenage years, but I always thought about Bobie (that was what she asked me to call her in 8th grade) and wondered how she was doing. I was so shocked and saddened to hear about her death.

I send my thoughts and prayers to her family, and want them to know that Barbara's memory will live on forever in many, many hearts.

Thank you for being such an awesome friend, Bobie! (Copeland Middle School, 1973)
