Genine Alverson Obituary
AGE: 80 • Leonardo
Genine "Noella" Leduc Alverson, "Pinky" was called out sliding home by the Umpire in the Sky on August 22, 2014. Mrs. Alverson was born in Graniteville, MA and she was raised there until 1964 when she moved to Leonardo.
Mrs. Alverson played in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League where she played on the Peoria, Battle Creek, Muskegeon and Fort Wayne teams from 1951-54. She played as both outfielder and pitcher. She was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown with the league in 1988.
She is predeceased by her husband George Alverson in 2013. She is survived by her daughter Betsy Alverson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. She was extremely proud of her baseball heritage and loved the opportunities she had to go to the AA-GPBL reunions and she was able to travel to last year's World Series.
The funeral will be held 7:30 pm on Monday, August 25 at John P. Condon Funeral Home LLC, 804 St. Hwy. #36, Leonardo, NJ. Cremation Services will be private. Calling hours will be Monday, August 25 from 4:00-7:30 at John P. Condon Funeral Home LLC, 804 St. Hwy. #36, Leonardo, NJ. In Lieu of Flowers donations should be made to the AA GPBL pa C/o Jill Rietjens, 1245 Del Mar Drive, Los Osos, CA 93402.

Betsy from all of us gals from the movie "A League of Their Own" We are so sorry for your loss. We loved her smile and warm hugs. The way she would always say"You take care" in her thick accent. Dirt in the skirt Pinky.
