Billy Cooper, 78, of Neptune City, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at home. He was born in Thomasville, GA. Before moving to Neptune City, he lived in Howell and was a former Fireman for Ramtown Fire Company. He served in the 108th Airborne Division of the Army and was wounded in combat during the Korean War earning the Purple Heart.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Judith C. Foster Cooper; his sister, Geri Green; son, Scott Cooper and wife Belinda of Long Branch; two daughters, Samantha Landi and husband August of Tinton Falls, and Kelli Ann Sawicki of Tampa FL; four grandchildren who he adored, Barbara Landi and fiancé Allen McGinley, Jennifer, Zachary and Jacob Sawicki. Also surviving are his constant companion, Jerry Lee, his beloved German Shephard. He retired from the State of NJ Dept. of Corrections, Trenton State. Also was an active member of the F.O.P.and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Francioni, Taylor & Lopez Funeral Home, 1200 10th and Atkins Ave., Neptune. A service will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown.
