Joseph Cassidy Obituary
AGE: 84 • Howell
Joseph Cassidy, 84, of Howell, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. He was born in Clydebank, Scotland, and he resided in Port Glasgow, Scotland, before coming to the United States in 1962 and settling in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Cassidy was employed as a painter for the United Nations in New York City for 11 years before his retirement. He served in The United Kingdom Army as a paratrooper. Joseph was a communicant of The Church of St. Veronica in Howell.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Agnes Cassidy. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice (nee O'Neill) Cassidy; his sons, John Cassidy of Swiftwater, PA, and Joseph Cassidy and his wife, Cathy of Washingtonville, NY; his daughters, Bridget Hyland and her husband, Mike of Howell, Patricia Dodrill and her husband, Henry of Howell, Agnes Harakal and her husband, Glenn of Eagle, CO, and Morag Small and her husband, Robert of Jackson; his 17 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his family in the United Kingdom.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson. A funeral gathering will be offered at 8 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9 a.m. at The Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834, and would be greatly appreciated. It was a lasting thought of Jeanette and I just how cheerful Joe was when we visited last year. He will always be remembered for that cheerful smiling face, his singing and the dominos.

Although we only met Uncle Joe the once, it was like meeting my dad Tony (Joe's Brother) again. Uncle Joe's smile,manner and happy nature was infectious and we left with big grins and precious memories which will always be treasured. Our thoughts are with Uncle Joe and I am sure he will be up there looking down on all of the family with his family. He will be sadly missed.
