Katherine Berning Obituary
AGE: 62 • Wall
Katherine E. Dougher Berning, 62, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Newark, she lived most of her life in East Orange and Bloomfield and the last 19 years in Wall. Katherine was the former Director of Human Resources for the Township of Montclair.
She was the wife of Wayne J. Berning for 41 years, mother of Jason and his wife Jennifer and Eric, sister of Margo Downs, Carole Dougher and Michele Dougher Hattrich.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial funeral mass at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 at Holy Innocents Church, 3455 W. Bangs Ave., Neptune. Interment is private. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America. Please express condolences at www.oboylefuneralhome.com.

Kathy was one of the strongest, most independent woman I have known. She was always there for you and she listened with compassion and understanding. She was a loving mother and wife. She conquered so many obstacles and challenges in her life. She was a great friend and is missed every day.

Lee and I are so deeply saddened by the passing of beautiful Kathie. She was such a wonderful, kind, caring and generous friend.
