Rodman F. Duane died on August 17, 2013 after a long illness. He was born on June 23, 1929 and grew up in Asbury Park, NJ. Rod attended Asbury Park High school and received BS and MBA degrees from Harvard University. As an undergraduate he was a member of the NROTC and following graduation he was on active duty with the U.S. Navy. He attended flight school and spent over twenty years in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. Duties included flight instructor on aircraft carriers and later as Commander at the U.S. Naval Air Station in South Weymouth Mass. In addition he worked for the Raytheon Company as a test pilot flying at mach 2 speeds. Rod's interests included antiques and antique cars.
He is survived by a sister, Marilyn Duane Beattie of Rye, NH, and his long time friend Lee Smith of Wellesley Hills MA.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
