Anna Maria (nee LaMastra) Roberts, age 49, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 comfortably in the presence of her loving family. Anna was a lifelong resident and former first lady of Hoboken. She was a member of the Hoboken Library Board of Trustees and the Mantoloking Yacht Club. Anna was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Hoboken. She was a customer service representative at Washington Savings Bank (now TD Bank). She later worked as a property manager for the Roberts Family Partnership. Many people knew Anna publically in her role as first lady from 2001-2009, and many were more fortunate to know her personally. As an individual, Anna was always kind, considerate, and generous. She was outgoing and went out of her way to help anyone less fortunate. She was loved by all.
She is survived by her devoted husband, former Hoboken Mayor David Roberts. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on April 29. Anna and David have one daughter, Amanda, and two sons, David and Christopher. She is also survived by her parents, Domenico and Antonetta LaMastra, and her mother-in-law, Ann Roberts. Anna is the cherished sister of Carmela and her husband Sam Mezzina, Damiano LaMastra and his wife Dina, Giuseppe LaMastra and his wife Nadia, and Margherita LaMastra. She is the niece of Giuseppe and Gina Marzocca, and she is a loving aunt to Frank, Dominick, Nicholas, Liana, Dominick, Daniel, and Jacqueline. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, retired Hoboken Fire Capt. Charles Roberts, and her many cousins and loving friends.
