Arthur "Artie" F. Zapolski

AGE: 92 • Manchester

Arthur "Artie" F. Zapolski, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, June 30, 2013. He was 92. Artie was a World War II veteran serving in the Regular Army from 1939 until he was discharged as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps in 1945. He served in Panama, the Caribbean and the Pacific including Saipan in the 20th Air Force. After the war, he met and married the love of his life Trudy Wisnieski in 1947. They were married for over 30 years until Trudy died in 1979. Artie was a New York City policeman for 20 years after which he was a supervisor at Irving Trust Company on Wall Street for over 20 years. After his retirement, he moved from his lifelong home in Maspeth, NY to Manchester, NJ in 1994.

Artie is survived by his son, Art Zapolski and daughter-in-law, Alice Brittain. Art's viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at St. John's R.C. Church, Lakehurst. Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, NY.
