Barbara Bluestein

1928-2013

Barbara Bluestein, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, in her home in Long Branch. She was an artist excelling in large paintings with joyous colors, and also in ceramics that were bold and highly original. Barbara attended the Tyler School of Fine Art, Temple University, and studied with Hans Hoffman in Provincetown. During her years in New York City in the 50's and 60's, she was a frequenter of the Cedar Bar and had friendships with many artists of the New York School and others. When she lived with her partner, Jeffrey Davis, at the Jersey Shore she was a member of the Art Alliance in Red Bank where she painted and showed her work. She also participated in shows at the Monmouth Museum.

Barbara is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Gerald Galison; her nephews, Peter and William Galison; and her niece, Mia Galison. In addition, she had three grandnephews and two grandnieces.

Barbara shared with all those who knew her a big and unique personality.
