AGE: 86 • Stuart, FL

Barclay Fillman Fox, Sr. died Friday, October 28, 2016 surrounded by his family at Hospice in Stuart, Florida. He was born July 11, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to Ruth Fillman Fox and Barclay Walton Fox, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Helyne Dens Fox and his brother, John William Fox.

Barclay was a graduate of Westfield High School, NJ and Southern Methodist University, TX. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force. Two weeks later, he married his high school sweetheart on June 14, 1952 and three days later departed for his tour of duty in France.

After the service, Barclay was employed as Terminal Manager for Anchor Motor Freight at the General Motors plant in Linden, NJ. Then promoted to Vice President of Leaseway Transportation for the Caribbean and relocated the family to Puerto Rico. Upon returning to the States, Barclay and his brother, John, went to work for their father until BW's retirement, then in partnership formed Linden Investment Company until retiring in 2003. He was a respected member of the Lions Club of Linden, NJ and a Board of Director for Columbia Bank in Fairlawn, NJ.

Together, Helyne and Barclay loved to golf, dance, and travel. They lived in Texas, Wyoming, France, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, before moving permanently to Stuart, Florida.

Barclay generously supported many charities including the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Nature Conservancy, Planned Parenthood, Salvation Army, Treasure Coast Hospice, Visiting Nurses Association, and the YMCA.

He is survived by two sons: Barclay Fillman Fox, Jr. (Debbie), and Richard Walton Fox (Terry); two daughters: Sharon Ruth Fox (Colleen), and Nicole Jean Tinsley (Michael); a sister-in-law, Susan McCotter Fox; six grandchildren: Barclay David Fox (Amber), Darren Patrick Conway (Jessica), Tami Conway Jones (Matthew), Christopher James Fox, Jillian Rose Cramer (Cody), and Mikayla Kathyrn Tinsley; and four great-grandchildren: Beatrix Fox, Olivia and Hudson Jones, and Sophia Conway.

All the loving thoughts, support and encouragement from family and friends is gratefully acknowledged. Barclay leaves with us much love, respect and wonderful memories.

A memorial service will be held 1:30pm on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at The United Methodist Church of Red Bank with repast to follow at the Oyster Point Hotel, Red Bank, NJ. The Fox Family is very grateful to the staff, doctors and nurses of Martin Memorial Hospital North and Treasure Coast Hospice for the compassionate care which they provided during Barclay's illness.
