AGE: 97 • Highland Park
Beatrice Jones, age 97, a lifelong resident of Highland Park, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Louisiana and lived in Texas before moving to New Brunswick and then later to Highland Park, N.J. Beatrice was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park now Transfiguration of the Lord Parish. She was a member of its' Altar Rosary Society and was an employee of the Church's Rectory for many years. Beatrice was an active volunteer at the Frances E. Parker Memorial Home in Piscataway, The Rose Mountain Care Center in New Brunswick, The Consolata Missionaries in Somerset as well as other organizations throughout the community. She enjoyed cooking, hat making, and gardening all of which she was recognized for by many who knew her especially her cooking.
Beatrice was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Nathaniel, in 1991 and her siblings, Beanna, Melba and George. She is survived by her twin sisters, Lena and Lydia of California; a nephew, Lawrence J. Arceneaux of Houston, Texas with whom she lived during her illness; a niece, Lee A. Robinson and family of Somerset; God-daughter, Laura Taylor of Pennsylvania; a longtime family friend and neighbor, Dorothy Long, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and beloved friends.
Viewing hours will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16th at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16th at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish, St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, Highland Park with entombment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum in New Brunswick.
