Captain David Christopher McAuliffe, 34, of Egg Harbor Twp., on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, went home to be with the Lord and the loving arms of his mother, Linda G. McAuliffe (nee Palmquist) who preceded him in death. Born Feb. 22, 1979 in Long Branch, he grew up in Lacey Twp., graduating from Lacey Twp. High School, David went on to further his education at Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart FL, where he earned a 100 ton Masters Certificate with a towing endorsement. This led David to begin his career in the Marine industry in 1998 ultimately accepting a position with Sea Tow in early 2005, where he selflessly dedicated himself to assisting those in distress on the water.
He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Lynsey J. McAuliffe (nee Paul); his daughter, Samantha Leigh; and his canine companion and best friend who never left his side. His father, David R. McAuliffe and mother, Deborah McAuliffe (nee Gavin); sisters, Keri (Chris Muli) and Kimberly Mondonaro; in laws, James and Marilyn Paul III and Susan Paul (nee Grimmer); brother-in law, James H. Paul IV (Machree) and sister-in-law, Meredith Feby (nee Paul). Additionally survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6 at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7 at St. Joseph Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Capt.
