Carol L. McGrail-Harmett

Carol L. McGrail-Harmett, 51, of Ocean Township passed away in St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012. Born in Neptune, Carol grew up in Interlaken before moving to Ocean Township fourteen years ago. She taught Religion and Math at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grammar School, Asbury Park from 1990 until the present. And was currently Vice Principal. She was named the Trenton Diocese Teacher of the Year in the mid 1990's. She was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School and Glassboro State College and received her Masters of Education from Jersey City State College. She was a member of Allenhurst Beach Club and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Carol was an avid traveler and loved Bermuda and Nantucket.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Norma McGrail. Surviving are her husband of 16 years, Charles Harmett; two children, Charlie and Christopher, both at home; a brother, Francis McGrail and his wife, Helen of Rumson. She was beloved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 5 from 2 - 4pm and 7 - 9pm in Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Avenue, Asbury Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Carol's memory.
