Doris (Granskie) Konkus, 85, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at home with loving family by her side. Born at home in Raritan Borough, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Fialka) Granskie, she was a resident of Raritan Borough and Somerville before settling to Manville in 1958. Doris retired after forty years of dedicated employment at RCA in Bridgewater where she was a lab technician, having been instrumental in assembling components for NASA. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville; a member of the Manville Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary; and a member of the Slovak Women's Association in Raritan. Doris enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and tending to her flower gardens. Her greatest pride was caring for her grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband Joseph Konkus who died on July 24, 2004; sister, Bernadine; and brother, Thomas. Doris leaves behind her two loving children, Mark and his wife Phyllis Konkus of Middletown, and Noreen and her husband Russell Hardgrove of Bridgewater; dear brother, John Granskie of Bridgewater; dear sister, Marilyn Paganessi of Manahawkin; four cherished grandchildren, Brian and his wife Jessica, Christopher, Ashley, Keith and his wife Alexis; and the newest addition to the family, her adored great grandchild, Sienna, who was born on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Saturday, July 13 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, July 15 from 8-8:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris' name to the Manville Rescue Squad, South Street, Manville, NJ 08835.
