AGE: 75 • Spring Lake Heights and formerly of Belmar

Ellen T. Carr Commesso, 75 of Spring Lake Heights and a lifelong resident of Belmar passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune with her devoted family at her bedside.

Ellen was a graduate of St. Catharine's Grammar School, Spring Lake and St. Rose High School, Belmar. She was employed by St. Rose Church and High School as a secretary for many years retiring in 2002.

Ellen was a popular figure at many Jersey Shore area sporting events always cheering on all her children and grandchildren in their games.

Raised in Spring Lake, she had resided in Belmar from 1963 until moving to Spring Lake Heights 10 years ago. She was a dedicated Communicant of St. Rose Church, Belmar.

She was predeceased by her parents Louis J. and Helen Gallagher Carr.

Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years Louis F. Commesso Sr., her devoted children Louis F. Jr. and wife Kristen of Tiburon, Cal., Michael G. of Belmar, her "favorite son" Gerard "Rod" M. and wife Katrina of Lacey Twp., Dominick and wife Christine of Summit, Mary Ellen Martin and husband Thomas of Spring Lake Heights and Catherine Commesso of Spring Lake Heights, she is also survived by her brother Lee Carr and wife Barbara of Middletown, and sisters Margaret "Peggy" Curran of Lake Hiawatha, and Denise "Denny" Larson of Brick Twp, her 20 grandchildren Sarah, Louie, Jessica, Kendal, Mikey, Kirsten, John, Erin, Matt, Sydney, Ryan, Graham, Olivia, Riley, Maggie, Tommy, Natalie, Dominick, Gabriella and Jack, her cherished great grandson Angelo, her husband Lou's siblings and their spouses Loretta and Ligon McNeel, Cathy and Bill Richmond, Dom and Paulette Commesso and Mary Beth O'Malley and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear lifelong friends especially Karen Devine whom she met in Kindergarten and continued to help Ellen until the time of her passing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:30am at the Church of St. Rose, 603 Seventh Ave., Belmar, NJ 07719.

In lieu of flowers the Commesso family requests donations to "Just Us Girls" P.O. Box 663, Manasquan, NJ 08736. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Wednesday.
