Everett H. Poling, 77, of Holmdel, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the NJ Firemen's Home, Boonton. He was born in Keyport and was a 1952 graduate of Keyport High School. He worked for Phelps Dodge Comm. Co. (which later became Celwave R.F., Marlboro). He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Everett was a member of the Keyport Fire Patrol, until he moved in 1977 to Holmdel, where he became a member of the Holmdel First-Aid Squad. He enjoyed sailing, bicycling and woodworking.
Everett was predeceased by his parents, Everett S. and Mabell G. Poling; his mother-in-law, Helen M. Dean; and a brother-in-law, Harold R. Dean. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen M. Poling; a son, Kevin S. Poling of Keyport; a daughter, Jill A. Poling and her husband, Mark Miller of Westminster, Md.; a daughter, Amy E. Ross of Holmdel; two cherished grandsons, Adam S. Poling of Keyport, and Nicholas E. Polliard of Blacksburg, Va.; a brother, Richard B. Poling and his wife, Geraldine of Hazlet; a sister, Drucilla A. Faulkner and her husband, Chester of Enterprise, Ala.; three sisters-in-law, Doris M. Williams of Marlboro, Liz Dean of Holmdel, and Dorothy McAloon of Interlaken; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, with an 11 a.m. service at the funeral home. Interment to follow at United Church of Christ Cemetery, Holmdel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Everett to the NJ Firemen's Home, 565 Lathrope Ave., Boonton, NJ 07005 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at MichaelJFox.org.
