Gary A. Brand, 66, of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home. Gary was born on January 25, 1947 in Orange, where he grew up. He also lived in Irvington, and Bloomfield, before ultimately settling in Sayreville in 1986. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Before retiring, Gary worked as a safety supervisor for Paul's Trucking in Avenel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was also the president of Liberty Rod and Gun Club, formerly of Chester.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alton and Dorothy (Symons) Brand, along with his brother, Staunton Gerns. Gary is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 45 years, Phyllis (Placko) Brand; his loving daughters, Michelle Gonzalez and her husband Jaime of Bushkill, PA, and Danielle Rios and her husband Andres of Matawan; his dear sister, Sharron Complitano and her husband Arthur of Cliffwood; his cherished goddaughter, Dawn Margeotes; his adored grandchildren, Krystal Gonzalez and Jaime Gonzalez Jr., along with his dear nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 11 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Rt. 35 N., Hazlet. A religious service will be offered at the funeral home during visiting hours. In respect of Gary's wishes, he will be privately cremated.
