Genevieve "Ginger" Tappen passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at her son's home in Fishkill, NY. She was 92 years old. Ginger was born in Perth Amboy and resided in Woodbridge for most of her life before moving to Fishkill four years ago. She was a devoted wife and mother and was employed as a collator with Commerce Clearing House in Clark for ten years before retiring in 1980. The joys of her life were family and friends, knitting, baking, gardening, dancing, and traveling.
Ginger was predeceased by her husband, William J. Tappen, in 2002; and two sons, Alan Tappen, in 1950, and William Tappen, Jr., in 1975.
Surviving are a son, Daniel Tappen and his wife, Kathleen Rose, of Fishkill, New York; a sister, Patricia Faniel, of Villas, New Jersey; and three grandchildren: Daniel Philip Tappen and Alixandra Yanus of High Point, North Carolina; Michael William Tappen and his wife Kimberly of Newmarket, New Hampshire; and Johanna Kathleen Tappen of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
