George H. Brew, Sr., 82, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at home.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, NY, he lived in Queens Village, NY, Keyport, NJ and Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1965.
George was a Crew Chief for American Airlines at JFK Airport and Newark-Liberty Airport for 40 years, retiring in 1996.
He served in the US Marine Corps during Korean War era.
George was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River and was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus John D. McMahon Assembly #1926 and the St. Joseph Council #4969.
He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 1, Toms River, was active with the Seaside Heights Columbus Day Parade and volunteered at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
George was predeceased by his brother William Brew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen (nee Daly), five sons Kevin Brew and his wife Lisa Alercio-Brew of Newport, RI, Brian Brew of Toms River, Timothy Brew of Smyrna, GA, Sean Brew and his wife Darcy McCabe-Brew of South Amboy, NJ and George Brew, Jr. of Toms River, and seven grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Kevin, Jack, Madeline, Mary Kate, and Caitlin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday 10:00am at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery , Toms River.
