Harold Gumbert passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at the Harrogate LifeCare Center in Lakewood, NJ, where he resided for the last three years. Harold was born in Guttenberg, NJ in 1922. He and his wife Evelyn lived in Little Ferry, NJ, and later New Monmouth, NJ and Myrtle Beach, SC. After their first grandchild was born, they returned to Toms River, NJ. Harold retired from Gulf Oil Corporation after 38 years of outstanding service. He loved to fish and took up golf later in life. He was a volunteer fireman for the Belford Independent Fire Company, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 63 years; his sons, Bruce and his wife, Linda of Stow, Massachusetts and Brian and his wife, Kim of Spotswood, NJ; and two granddaughters Kristin and Courtney.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 19 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Toms River, NJ. Silverton Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
