Herbert B. Struening

AGE: 92 • Brick

Herbert B. Struening, 92, of Brick, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, he lived in Pine Brook, NJ, before moving to Brick in 1962. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a participant in the Allied Invasion of Normandy. After being discharged from the Army, he worked in the precision room of the tool and die department of Bell Labs in Holmdel for 33 years until his retirement. Herbert was a member of the Unity School of Christianity in Neptune and the Durand Masonic Lodge in Point Pleasant Beach.

Herbert was predeceased by his wife, Wilhelmine in 2010. He is survived by his son Richard and his wife Peggy of Brielle; his son Ralph and his companion Elaine Romanosky of Brick; his sister, Thelma Dry of California; and his Granddaughter, Robin.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, April 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 in Brick. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. Entombment will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
