Hildegard Emilie Kaunzinger, 82, of Ocean, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, after a brief battle with pneumonia. She was born in Deggendorf, Germany in 1931 and immigrated to the United States in 1958 when her husband, Helmuth, was asked to join the U.S. Army civilian research branch at Camp Evans in Wall, NJ. Prior to her marriage, Hilde was an executive secretary and translator for Wallner in Deggendorf and for Siemens in Hamburg and Erhlangen. Hilde studied interior decorating at LaSalle College and employed her talents both commercially in the 1970s and at home throughout her life. She and Helmuth founded the Search Day Program for autistic children and Community Living for the Autistic (now New Horizons) for autistic adults. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life.
Hilde is survived by her son, Peter, his wife, Irina, grandsons, Yuriy and Thomas; her daughter, Ines, and her son, Christian, his wife Christina, and grandsons, Alexander, Lukas, Gregory and Joseph.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. Condolences may also be made online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.
