Irene Alper, 89, a resident at Brookside Assisted Living, Freehold, NJ, died Monday, September 19, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she previously resided in Brooklyn, NY, Marlboro, NJ and Sunrise, FL. She was a loving, devoted and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and woman of valor. She was president of the sisterhood, FPJC, and active in charitable causes.Her strength and resilient spirit will be misses by all.She was married to Elliot Alper for 61 years, until his death in 2004. She also, lovingly cared for her parents, Lena (Lev) and Charles Gilbert, until their deaths in 1979 and 1958, respectively.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elizabeth Alper, Randolph, NJ; her daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Sam Rein, Morganville, NJ; her beloved grandchildren: Michael and Amanda, Daniel and Brittany, Gilbert, Andrew, Adam, Dina and Dave, and Neal; and her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Tyler, Sophie, and Abigail.
A graveside service will be held at Old Montefiore Cemetery, Queens, NY. The family has requested that donations be made to the
ww.alz.org/jointhecausedonate.asp, in Irene's memory. Services are under the direction of Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan.
