James Colassano, age 92 of Red Bank, died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove. Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Freehold before moving to Red Bank. Jim was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Gesuele Colassano; 2 sons and daughters in law, Frank and Ginna Colassano of Manhattan; James and Laura Colassano of Hazlet; a daughter and son in law, Theresa and Eric Wurmser of Red Bank; his brother, Nicholas Colasuonno; 2 grandchildren, Rachel Wurmser, Kurt Wurmser and his wife, Mary Tara and 2 great grandchildren, Isabelle and Alexander.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Funeral Saturday, 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Leo the Great R.C. Church, Lincroft. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
