James Daniel Holden

AGE: 72 • Bluffton, S.C.

James Daniel Holden, 72, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, surrounded by his family. James Daniel (Dan) was born in Park Ridge, Illinois. He graduated from Maine High School in Park Ridge, continuing on to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Millikin University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Economics. He earned a Masters of Business at Worcester Polytechnic in Worcester, MA.

Dan had a long and successful investment banking career on Wall Street, previously heading the Private Placement Trading and Sales departments at Kidder Peabody, Morgan Stanley, and Prudential Securities; was President and CEO of CorePacific Securities; and up until his death, was a Partner at The Inman Company. Dan was the Savannah Chapter Director of the COO Forum, and was a judge at Georgia Tech's and Georgia Southern University's "Fast Pitch" Venture Capital Forum.

Dan enjoyed sailing and traveling, and was active in golf and piano clubs. An avid music enthusiast, particularly jazz, Dan played the saxophone in his youth and piano throughout his life. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Romes Holden of 47 years; daughter, Tracy Krumme and son-in-law Robert D. Krumme Jr. of Pelham, NY; daughter, Stephanie O'Neil and son-in-law Ian E. O'Neil of McLean, VA; daughter, Christine Semcer and son-in-law, Brian Semcer of Summit; and his nine grandchildren, Bobby, Holden, Braden, Jameson, Max, Jake, Mackenzie, Annabelle and Cooper.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at Tower Hill Presbyterian Church in Red Bank. All other arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Dan was a childhood friend of mine when we lived in Park Ridge Illinois. We parted as we grew up but I never forgot the comforting smile knowing that Danny was a genuine person that would be a life long friend even though we separated by many miles.
