James Laurence Kirkbride

AGE: 84 • Old Bridge

James Laurence Kirkbride of Old Bridge passed away July 19, 2013 at the Regency Jewish Heritage Care Center in Somerset. He was 84 years old. Born in California, James was a resident of Old Bridge since 1955.

He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Edison for 42 years working as an assembly worker, a foreman and an inspector, retiring in 1988. James was a veteran serving in the US Coast Guard in Staten Island, NY from 1946 to 1949. While in Staten Island, James met the love of his life, his wife Beverly Haswell Kirkbride.

He coached Pop Warner Football for the Old Bridge Rams and the Sayre Woods South Rebels. Coaching for over 25 years, he was known as "Coach" or "Pappy". He was an avid gardener who enjoyed having a green lawn. He always worked very hard, and would do anything for his family..he also loved doing projects around the house..he was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife of 38 years, Beverly Haswell Kirkbride, he is survived by four daughters, Peggy Brown of Milltown,NJ, Kathleen Yager of East Brunswick, NJ, Beverly Pagnotta and her husband Joseph of Lacey,Washington, and Janice Felton and her husband Jeffrey of Beachwood, NJ. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph, Heather, Jessica, Michelle, James, Courtney, Kyle and Zachary and eight great grandchildren, Kaylee, Makayla, Emma, Erick, Hailey, Landon, Avery and Jack.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 pm at the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown. Funeral services, Monday 9 am at the funeral home. Interment, Moscow Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
