Jeanette Nicastro Russo, 99, of Edison, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Roosevelt Care Center. Jeanette was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Francesco and Sabatina (Bianca) Trombatore. At the age of two her family relocated to Colasano, Italy where she remained until the age of fourteen when she returned to Perth Amboy. Jeanette was a resident of Shrewsbury from 1968 until 2009. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Red Bank. She was a very accomplished and talented seamstress for many years in Perth Amboy. She loved her home, taking care of her family, cooking for them and sewing beautiful things.
Jeanette was predeceased by her brother, Corrado; sisters, Mary, Josephine and Coradina; her first husband and father of her children, Louis Nicastro in 1964 and her second husband of 34 years, Andrew F. Russo in 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Francene Kubinak and husband Ronald of Edison, Antoinette Gerhardt and husband Ronald of VA, Susan Klimas and husband Edward of Middletown and Mary Lou Antinozzi of Brigantine; sons, Andrew F. Russo Jr. and wife Diane of Springfield, NJ and Robert Russo and wife Joyce of Red Bank; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 25th, 10am at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Red Bank. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, NJ.
