John J. "Bud" Bailey

East Falls, Pa.

John J. "Bud" Bailey, of East Falls (Phila.) and Brant Beach (LBI), died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. Bud played semi-pro baseball in the Penn-Del league and he coached baseball and basketball at many levels. he coached at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. His love of sports was well-known. Bud also loved golfing with family and friends.

Beloved husband of 57 years of Joan (nee Butler), dear father of Joan Burke (Mike), Jane Hall (Robert), John "Bud" (Cheryl), June Ann Engel (Robert), James (Patricia) and Joseph (Kathryn), grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 8; also survived by 2 brothers, Gerald and Kevin and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 8 at the McIlvaine Funeral Home, 3711 Midvale Ave., Phila., Pa. His Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bridget Church. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the East Falls Sports Association, c/o Tony Rapone, 3228 Scott's Lane, Phila., PA 19129.
