AGE: 82 • Manchester
John J. "Jack" O'Connor, in his 82nd year of Manchester, formerly of Maywood, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at home, surrounded by his loving family after a 2 year courageous battle with cancer. Born in the Bronx to the late Eileen and William O'Connor of New Market, County Cork Ireland. A 4 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War. A member of the N.Y. Uniformed Firefighters Assoc., he was a NYC fireman for 32 years retiring in 1986.
Beloved husband of 58 years of Margaret "Jo" (nee Diamond). Devoted father of John, William, Kathleen Boettger and husband, Robert and James and wife, Karen. Proud grandfather of Katelyn, Ryan, Jessica and husband, Brian, Jason and fiancée, Christine, Kevin, Robert and James. Cherished great-grandfather of Brayden and Kaley. Predeceased by a sister, Eileen Russo and brother, William.
Visiting from 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26 until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Trinka-Faustini Funeral Service, 439 Maywood Ave., Maywood. Burial George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. I have known Jack for many, many years. I called myself his "adopted Italian" daughter. He had the best smile and the best personality! The O'Connor/Boettger family was so blessed to have him as their beloved dad. Although our hearts are broken, Jack is at peace and is the best guardian angel anyone could ask for! I will miss you, "Just" Jack! Love you! RIP - Hello!!!!

I had the honor and pleasure to be JACK'S Hospice Nurse for a while. over the many weekly visits we had a great bond and it was an enjoyment for me to sit a have our weekly chats. A great human being indeed. Gonna miss you Jack
