Lacey Township - John Montagne, 57, of the Forked River section of Lacey Township, died, Friday, October 21, 2016.

He was a parishioner of Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, Lacey Township.

John was a Fire Captain with the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the FMBA Local 500NJ, North Hudson Fire Officers Local 26 and North Hudson Local 3950.

Born in Jersey City, he resided in Bergen and Hudson Counties before moving to Forked River in 1994. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Jersey City State and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Reds fan. Locally, he was a member of the Lacey Township Elks BPOE Lodge #2518 and the Lacey Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1907.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen Montagne.

Surviving are his wife, Susan and a daughter, Amanda Montagne, both of Forked River, Lacey Township; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Montagne, Little Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Andrew Kulley, Princeton Junction; his Uncles, Tony and Frank; his Aunt Dot; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday at Layton's Home For Funerals, (609) 971-6800, 250 W. Lacey Road, Forked River, Lacey. Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Friday, at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home, hence to St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
