John Thomas "Jack" O'Donnell

AGE: 81 • Highlands

John Thomas "Jack" O'Donnell, 81, of Highlands entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was a truck driver for Trans World Airlines and then Emery Air Freight at Newark International Airport for over 24 years. He then worked as a Security Guard at the Care One at King James Nursing Home, Navesink, NJ and he recently retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post #143 and the VFW Post #6902 both of Highlands. Jack loved the NY Yankees, enjoyed playing bingo, Fathers Day at Monmouth Park Race Track, being an Usher at church and all things Irish. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church, Highlands where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Council of the Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. Born in Scranton, PA, he resided in Newark, NJ before moving to Highlands, NJ in 1955.

He is survived by one daughter, Kathie and husband, John Sterzinar of Red Bank; four sons, Kevin and wife Betty O'Donnell of Highlands, Thomas and wife Jodi O'Donnell of Washington Twp., NJ, John and wife Catherine O'Donnell of West Long Branch, Ernie and wife Carla O'Donnell of Middletown; former wife and mother of his children, Joan; grandchildren, Gina and husband Rich Livingston, Tony and wife Jodi Ventimiglia, Danny, Mike, and Ray Kissiday, Heather, Kevin, Bryan, Matthew, Ryan, Carolyn, Nicholas, Katie O'Donnell; great grandchildren, Ava, AJ and Austin Ventimiglia and Gavin Livingston. Predeceased by his parents, James J. and Irene O'Donnell.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10AM from Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church, Highlands, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Posten's Funeral Home, 59 E. Lincoln Ave. at Central Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ on Wed., 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations would be preferred to the OLPH Food Pantry, 141 Navesink Ave., Highlands, NJ 07732. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown, NJ.
