Joseph C. Stavola Jr., 83, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Middletown. Joseph was a co-founder and proud owner of the Stavola Companies. He along with his brothers founded Stavola Companies, based in Tinton Falls where it remains a family owned and operated business.
Joseph enjoyed the simple things in life like going to breakfast with his sons and grandchildren every Saturday, working on the farm and bailing hay. He was also an outdoorsmen who enjoyed going crabbing, fishing and hunting.
Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret "Maureen" Stavola; his brothers Michael, John and Frank Stavola; and his three sisters, Mary Buttle, Antoinette Ottinger and Lucy De Pierro. He is survived by his sons, Joseph C. Stavola, III and his wife Nancy and David J. Stavola and his wife Mary Ellen both of Middletown; grandchildren, the loves of his life, Michele, Joseph, IV, David, Jr. and Robert; his brother James and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 - 3pm and 6 - 8pm at the John E Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A funeral service will be held on Monday December 9, 2012 at 11am at the funeral home. The interment will follow at the Mt Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
