Julie (Janowski) Palko, 89, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born in Nanticoke, PA, graduated Nanticoke High School class of 1941, and through the years attended many reunions with her late husband of 53 years, Mr. Joseph Palko. They were married December 27, 1941. After WWII, the couple settled in Piscataway, where they owned and operated Joe's Auto Body Shop. Both became very active in the Possumtown Volunteer Fire Department, with Joe as Chief and Julie as President of the Woman's Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway. Julie loved taking pictures, gardening and flowers.
Mrs. Palko was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her son, Stephen; her brother, Frank and her sisters, Helen and Katherine. Surviving are her sons, Joseph and his wife Sara, Michael and his wife Barbara, Jim and his wife Denise and John and his wife Sophie; her daughter-in-law, Carol; her sister, Eleanor; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:30 am at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by interment in the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours are Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Julie's name to the Possumtown Volunteer Fire Dept., 85 Stratton Street South, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
