Kenneth Edwin Runyon

AGE: 67 • Ocean Township

Kenneth Edwin Runyon, 67, of Ocean Township, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Runyon retired from the Asbury Park Press after many years in distribution and before retirement worked in the security department at the Neptune offices. He was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War from 1964 -1967 and while posted in Korea, He met his lifelong love, Ok-Sun. He was a member of the VFW of Neptune #2639 and a member of the Teamsters Union. Although he enjoyed The New York Yankees, NASCAR, and The Dallas Cowboys, Mr. Runyon's greatest love was that of his family, especially his granddaughter. Born in Neptune, he grew up in Wall and lived in Long Branch before moving to Ocean Township in 1988.

He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Flora Runyon. Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years Ok-Sun (Pak) Runyon , daughter Suzanne Behar and her husband Marc of Ocean Township, brother Paul L. Runyon and his late wife Linda of Toms River and sister Karen M. Doebel also of Toms River and his granddaughter Sophia Behar of Ocean Township. He also leaves 4 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law, 13 nephews and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as two predeceased brothers-in-law.

Visiting will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday 11am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
