Marie Collins entered into rest on January 23, 2013 at age 99 in Scotch Plains, NJ. Born in Jersey City, NJ, formerly of Forked River, NJ and previously of Congers, NY, Marie worked as a bookkeeper at Trapp Rock in W. Nyack, NY. She was active as a volunteer at St. Pius X in Forked River, was past president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Rosary Altar Society and was also a member of the Democratic Club. She especially enjoyed working on craft projects, playing the organ, and gardening.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Thomas P. in 1988 and her sister Mildred Bruschi in 1995. Survivors include her son Thomas and his wife Rhoda of Middletown, NY; daughter Janet Ulrich and her husband Gregory of Spotswood, NJ; daughter Maureen Collins-Lapides and her husband Earl of Somerset, NJ. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a niece, nephew and several grandnieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 28, 2013 at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9, Forked River. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at St. Pius the Tenth RC Church 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Good Luck Cemetery in Lanoka Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 or to St. Pius X RC Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731 in Mrs. Collins Memory.
